Tenerife with kids: an action-packed holiday for all

This recently refurbished and popular family resort in Tenerife operates a ‘Wave of Change’ eco programme; no paper cups, straws etc, and toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, soap are all refilled to reduce plastic waste.

The cheerful sounding Smiley Kids’ Club is available for tots over 4 years old and there is a Teens’ Club for older kids. Kids can indulge in soap making, t-shirt painting and perfume making workshops.

Younger kids will enjoy the evening mini disco, whilst there is plenty of daytime fun with the kids’ pool having slides and a pirate ship plus a sand pit in the children’s club area.

Family rooms are co-joining with a connecting door in the middle, providing ample space and privacy for the grownups. No more hiding in the bathroom talking quietly whilst the kids sleep!

If you get tired of lounging around by the pools (including a saltwater pool and heated pool), adults can join in with aqua bike, spinning aqua fit and aqua pole dancing.

The budget-friendly Aparthotel El Duque offers studios and apartments, which have a separate bedroom and a lounge area with a fully equipped kitchenette, making it very convenient for families to rustle up a quick meal or snack (although an ‘all Inclusive’ option is also available). A Hiper Dino supermarket is situated just outside the complex in the shopping centre. The apartment buildings are set in lush green gardens around a central water fountain which meanders from one end of the complex to the other.

Younger kids will not only enjoy the kids’ club and pool but also the playground with slides and climbing frame plus the evening circus acts and magic shows!

The GF Gran Costa Adeje is just a few metres from the golden sandy El Duque beach. The standard rooms have double beds plus a sofa bed and are kitted out with a kettle, tea and coffee … plus a fridge! This ideally located hotel offers several pools, including a kids’ pool and a glass-bottomed pool! Also included is a playground and a kids’ club onsite.

Families can choose to play various sports ranging from the ever-popular football to petanque. We love this game as even tiny tots can enjoy and play with the rest of the family!

From the hotel, it is just a short walk down to Adeje promenade which has several bars and restaurants, all nestled along the coastline.
