Friuli Venezia Giulia – or FVG – is a region of Italy tucked between Slovenia and Austria. When I went, I found it to be an intriguing melting pot of all three countries. FVG’s a haven for outdoors types – it’s got everything from the towering Dolomites to steep vineyard valleys.
You can stretch your legs with a gentle walk or push your limits with a long-distance bike ride. And when you’ve worked up an appetite, tuck into the region’s hearty specialities, from fresh pasta and seafood to succulent pork.
