Majorca with kids: a holiday that will please everyone

Majorca isn't just for beach bums, this Balearic Island offers up plenty of fun for the whole family. Check out our guide on enjoying Majorca with kids.

There are a staggering 262 beaches to enjoy in Majorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands. And it’s Majorca’s gorgeous coastline, azure blue seas, hilltop towns and culturally magnificent cities that make it a fantastic family destination.

Explore the pine-fringed coves of Cala d’or and find a secluded spot to paddle in the cool shallow waters of Cala Serena, then take the kids to wander to the marina and go yacht spotting. Get lost in the Old Town of Palma and grab a creamy sweet ensaimada from a traditional bakery and then head to the waterfront to marvel at the majestic cathedral.

From secluded beaches to golden-stoned villages, bike rides, watersports, hiking, and plenty of child-friendly attractions, Majorca for families is a must. The only trouble is, trying to decide where to head first and whether to tear yourselves away from the poolside fun.

Sleek and contemporary cool in Alcudia

The Zafiro Palace Alcudia occupies is very own private space in the Port of Alcudia. It’s a large, contemporary resort, and its modern lines and glass facade gives it a light, airy feel, keeping in tune with the surroundings. Family suites are generous in size, with two bedrooms and direct access to the pools and Balinese beds.

Little kids will be hard pushed to leave the bubble pool, pirates ship and slides, but they might be persuaded to go to the mini club which has a bouncy castle and play area, as well as the superb facilities catering to kids 4-15 years of age. From an abundance of sporting activities, even indoor cycling, and local demonstrations from bird shows, boredom won’t ever be a problem.

Parents will want to head to the Zen Spa or lounge by the 12 pools – one of which is adults-only. Meanwhile, there is a choice of five restaurants where you can sample Majorcan delicacies or a taste of the East at the sushi bar-restaurant. The Verandah buffet restaurant has numerous food stations which will entice even tiny palettes, particularly the ice-cream on tap throughout the day.

For those who want the ultimate space to drink in the views of the Bay of Palma, book into the Star Prestige suites, where the whole family can enjoy a private hydromassage tub out on a private terrace.

While there are no onsite facilities directed at kids, no matter. Just nip next door to the Iberostar Cristina and get the best of both worlds. Five-star decadence with panoramic views

Standing on the cliff top and overlooking the stunning coast of Port de Soller and the Tramuntana mountains is the uber-luxe Jumeirah Port Soller. Built to blend in with its hilltop surroundings, guests will be instantly impressed by the lobby’s giant snail chandelier. Interiors are relaxed and neutral throughout including the well-appointed rooms all with mountain views.

While there is a separate family pool, mum and dad can sneak off to the infinity pool and drink in the sweeping vistas. The two Hammams, large glass-fronted sauna and hydro pool at the Talise Spa also make use of these magnificent views, but perhaps you might tear yourself away for the Five Senses massage, which includes a coma-inducing foot scrub.

Kids will adore the Barbaroja’s Kids Club, which is kitted out with entertaining features, as well as organised activities including a fantastic nature trail with a guide and movie nights.
