Spend February in Galway

Arty, bohemian and beside the seaside, Galway is filled with brightly painted pubs, side-street cafes and medieval town walls. Considered the most ‘Irish’ of all of Ireland’s cities, Galway is an ancient shipping port and trading gateway to Spain, Portugal, and the rest of Europe.  One of the remaining remnants of the medieval town walls was built to protect Spanish ships coming in to port, but was partially destroyed after an earthquake hit Lisbon sending a tsunami over to Galway.

If you are interested in seeing more of the surrounding countryside, then Galway is also within a two-hour drive of the Cliffs of Moher – well worth a daytrip if you’re in the area…
